Dad and Baby Bonding

Background info first ...... Dan found a stethoscope somewhere [work, the street, one of his senior citizen guys friend, who knows] and brought it home and sterilized it per my request.

Dan hasn't been able to attend the midwife appts where hearing the heartbeat is part of the visit ... I think he is feeling left out.

Anyhoo, he decided that he wanted to hear the heart beat of the baby last night. So he went downstairs and grabbed the stethoscope and placed it everywhere on my belly to hear our little guy. He didn't get to hear the heartbeat because the baby decided to kick him. He thought that was pretty amazing and forgot all about hearing the heartbeat.

Until next time ....

Pictures, Possibilities and Preparations

Ultrasound Pictures of our Baby Boy
[aka Little Clint]

Here he is our little guy. His profile at 5 months

Here is his tiny little foot.

His arm and hands.

Tilt your head to the left. He is sideways laying on his arm.
Don't worry it does look kinda like a skeleton.

Possibilities
With the new little peanut on the way I have been stressing a little [ok a lot] about my work situation. Reason being is, I have to travel extensively overnight for weeks on end to be successful in my current position. BUT this little setup is completely unsuitable for a Mama and a new Mama at that, so the job search prevails. I recently applied for a position on campus. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will at least get an interview. Updates about this will happen after Aug 3rd. Send all the good vibes you can!!!

Preparations
Apparently, babies need a lot of stuff. I mean a lot more stuff then I have ever even knew about ... my parenthood magazine provides a checklist. So, to make it easier for me and Dan I went Target, Wal-Mart and the Babies R Us webistes and created a registry of things that we need for our little guy. Who knew there are SOME MANY options for car seats, cribs, bottles, etc. PS. Any advice on a good infant car seat would be welcomed.

Ok so that is it for now ........

Thank you Uncle and Auntie from MN

My brother and sister in law sent us an amazing baby swing cradle for the baby. I just had to put it together last night. I love it thank you so much. Right now it is in the "baby room". I say "baby room" because it is the only thing we have in the room that pertains to the baby at this point.

I am feeling really good these days. I can feel the baby move a lot more now and he is definitely making more room for himself in there ... from the u-sound he appears to be very long. He likes to have his head right under by breast also seen in the ultrasound. Which explains the discomfort in that area over the last couple weeks. =]

I am hoping I can get Grandma Rourk to scan the u-sound pictures soon to post.

Have a great day!

We are having a Boy!!

Most of my friends and family already know we are expecting a BOY at the end of November beginning of December. Now its the name game.

Dan as you know has Clint Crosbie firmly planted in his brain as the name but as for me it is still up for discussion.

So, I have one name that I am thinking about and hoping for some thoughts on the subject:

Guy Rourk Crosbie or just Guy Crosbie since Dan has some aversion to middle names.

Just a quick thought on the topic.

A little history never hurts

After the last post Amy [Dan's father's wife] sent this interesting information about the Crosbie name to help with naming the little peanut. Thanks Amy!! Note my comments are listed in red below.

Crosbie is the English name adopted by members of the MacCrossan family. They were originally bards to the clans of O'More and O'Connor.

The MacCrossan were mainly in counties Laois and Offaly in Ardfert county Kerry in the early 16th century - the first Crosbie was Patrick. Can you believe it they have Patricks in their family too? We are not going that route at all, sorry! With my Mom, Dad, Brother and Newphew all with the name Pat or Patrick we figured that name is COVERED.

The family was reputed as important landlords, Sir Pierce Crosbie was described as being "a very powerful landlord" in 1610. This might be why Dan loves shopping for land so much =]. Don't they say you inherit certain qualities?

There was a Protestant Bishop named John Crosbie, in Ardfert from 1600 - 1620.

You can look up some of the early Crosbie family in the National Library (MSS 5033 - 5042).

Thank you all for your input regarding names. I thought you might find it interesting to know that many of the same names were offered as suggestions:

Fav Girls name so far: Olivia, Madison/Madysen, and Sophia/Sophie
Fav Boys name so far: Evan was the only name that was similar

Our next ultrasound and midwife appoint is July 9th. The baby is very active it seems as I am starting to feel him/her flutter around in there ... anyway I will keep you posted!!!

Naming the little one ..........

On July 7th we are having our second ultrasound. We are hoping to find out if we are going to have a little boy or little girl. Many people are curious to find out what names we are considering for the little one.

Some of you know that Dan is vying for the name Clint [as in Clint Eastwood].

I however do not really like the name. I've told him his nickname will be Charlie [as in Charlie Brown].

Please give me some ideas for boys names!!!!!!!!!!!

As for girls names I like the following: Sydney, Shelby and Mia. But, I would love to hear any suggestions people have for names.
